Getting a website: Don't DIY, here's why

If you're considering a do-it-yourself website builder for your small business website you may want to think again.

Sure, the television commercials and radio ads make it sound easy and cost effective, but the truth is that most site builders are difficult to use, require a lot of time, lack essential features your small business needs and have hidden fees that add up quick. Also, if you don't know what you're doing with SEO, your website will be pointless as no one will be able to find it.

Don't Do IT!

Here's the deal: Just because you CAN cut your own hair, doesn't mean you should. And just because you CAN build your own website, doesn't mean you should. There is a reason we leave certain things to the professionals.

What defines a "professional"

A professional web designer understands what works in web design. They have studied what audiences will be looking for. When a person lands on your website, the first few seconds are the most crucial and could mean the difference between landing the sale and not. Web designers are always studying current trends, consumer psychology, and preferably what works visually in the design aspect.

A good web designer will also be a good graphic designer and artist. They will be able to create pieces that will go into your website that will make it visually stunning. These are things that most non-professional web designers simply wont be able to do.

And most importantly, professional web designers have studied current trends in SEO. So they know what keywords to use for your industry, how many to use, where and how to use them. They will also be doing all of the other things that go into getting your website found in search engines, that again, most non-professionals aren't sitting around studying.

They have figured out what works and what doesn't from years of trial and error. A non-web designer who is just using a free website builder doesn't have this years of experience behind them to refer to.

With our company, you'll work with a local expert who will build a professional website for you, equipped with the tools to help you grow your business, so you can focus on more important things..like your actual business.

To Summarize...

It requires precious time and expertise to build your own website. It can be more technical then you expected. And it may not look as nice as you were hoping. There may also be unexpected costs! And it may not get found in search engines like you were expecting.

Your website, your 24/7 employee

Why does a nice, professional-looking website matter? In most cases, it is the first face of your business that your customers are seeing. Like the receptionist in an office building, your website is your 24/7 employee that needs to look amazing, present information clearly and represent your company and brand efficiently, and it needs to be able to be found!

With so much competition out there, this is best not to gamble with.

Don't DIY, leave this to the professionals!

If you check out a lot of the mega corporate business web sites you'll notice that they've always got some sort of deal, special or coupon being advertised on their website. So we should probably be doing the same, right? Clearly, it's working for them. Aside from the obvious reason of posting coupons or specials on your site, there is another reason to keep your site updated with specials: this tells Google that you are keeping your website fresh with new content, and it will be more likely to rank your site better because of this. So do it for better ranking!  Here are 3 ways to create coupons, and advertise specials on your site making your site more interesting, intriguing, keeping it up-to-date, and hopefully generating more business for you. 1. Don't DIY your website!! Here's why...

Don't DIY when it comes to website building. Make sure you do some research first! Here we've compiled a list of the reviews from some of the top DIY software companies out there.  You're welcome. The first one is Wix .  One of the main things that makes Wix a poor choice is that they use Flash in their website builders and as a result, get poor SEO results, and slow loading times. Another complaint is their overall look is just not really professional.  Also, they may start off as "FREE" but you will find that you need to upgrade at some point, and apparently, they're not cheap. Nothing like surprise costs to bum your day out! Especially after you're somewhat committed due to the time you've invested in building the site.  You're also going to see a trend with the reviews I'm going to post in their lack of good, available customer service. This seems to be the case with these large companies. "Wi...
